  • Chhath Puja is a significant Hindu festival celebrated primarily in India and Nepal, honoring the Sun God and his sister Chhathi Maiya. Observed over four days, Chhath Puja is a time for devotees to express gratitude for the sun's life-giving energy and seek blessings for well-being and prosperity and is widely celebrated in Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh in India.  For 2025 the dates are October 25 to 28.

    The Story Behind Chhath Puja

    Chhath Puja has its roots in ancient India, associated with the epic Ramayana. According to legend, Lord Rama and Sita worshipped the Sun God during their exile, marking the beginning of the practice. The festival is also linked to the story of Karna, the son of Kunti, who worshipped the Sun God to gain strength and courage.

    Rituals and Traditions

                - Nahay Khay: Devotees take a holy bath and prepare traditional dishes.

    - Kharna: Fasting and worshipping the Sun God, offering traditional sweets and fruits.
