Home vs Home Page

There's no place like home and we have been blessed with a great many of them. Yet, wherever we travel we are always drawn back to the USA and particularly the Portland, Oregon area. Of course, family ties are the primary draw but we also greatly enjoy the comfort of familiar places. Especially as we grow older we try to re-visit the scenes of our happy youth. But wait, this place is not how I remember it! Is my memory faulty or has it greatly changed? Both, I am afraid.

Oregon, The Pacific Northwest

Michael was born and raised in Oregon; Karin in Washington, the state, not D.C.. They raised their family in Oregon and now have children in Oregon, Washington and Texas.

Texas, Houston area

Go to where the jobs are, young man. So our son has relocated to Houston. This area has a lot to offer besides heat and humidity. My favorite is probably the countless neighborhood parks but the highlight is the Johnson Space Center; this rates my very rare accolade of a "must see".

Pennsylvania, Central East Coast

For a few years our son lived in a rural area outside of Harrisburg, PA . We really enjoyed the Americana of this region. Our favorite side trip when touring was to Lancaster County--Amish country.

Florida, The Southeast

Two of Michael's brothers live in the Tampa Bay area; one with a large welcoming home for all visitors. So we have visited here a few times. The highlight was the Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park; truly an unforgettable experience being up close and personal to manatees and other local creatures such as in this video.
